What are your make-up Resolutions?
Despite our new year resolutions to finish decorating the house or lose a few pounds, one we don’t often think about is our makeup resolution for 2013. This is just like any other resolution except it’s beauty related. We could be wanting to be more open to trying out cream foundations or get on the CC or BB cream bandwagon. Maybe it’s as simple as trying on a peach instead of a pink blush. Nonetheless, it’s important to set ourselves up for the year and be open to trying new things.
Personally, I would like to incorporate and be more experimental with color. I guess staying on the safe side brings on more neutral shades of brown than blue or green, but I can’t help but be inspired by so many out there who are comfortable with the crazier colors. To do this, I will watch more tutorials and read more books because I think we learn the best when it comes to art by looking at the different ways and methods and then adopting our own ways when we work. I’m always amazed at how certain eye looks can be so vivid but one trick I learned was to use a colored primer underneath the eye-shadow that enhances the pigment ten fold. If the colors are complementary, they can add another dimension to the color. But with all looks, there is a fine line with how much blending you can do. You need to be able to blend out the colors so that they create a nice gradient but not so much that the looks become muddy. This is especially a challenge for people with smaller eyelids like mine.
On a more product level, I want to get to know lip stains and tints. I often overlook them and go for the normal lipsticks and lip glosses or powder blush. I’ve tried the tints once on my cheeks but it left streaks because I didn’t know how to apply it properly. So one of my new years resolutions is to try it right.
So there we go! What are your makeup resolutions for 2013?
