There are thousands of choices when it comes to makeup but finding the right shade for you starts at determining what your skin tone is. Not everyone is able to pull off blue, red, purple or green eye-shadows so before you wear makeup that looks poorly applied, let's determine what shades are best for you by looking at your skin tone and eye color.
For Dark Hair and Eyes
It is best to stick to dark and neutral shades of eye-shadow. Deep purple, champagnes, beige, peach, pinks, bronzes, and golds are a few that can work well at complimenting you, but stay away from brighter shades, such as blue or green.
For those with this skin tone and eye color, dark eyeliner on both the upper and bottom eyelids and shimmery shades of eyeshadow will look wonderful.
For Medium-Dark Skin Tone and Light Eyes
Stick to eyeshadows that bring out light coloured eyes. For instance, if you have blue eyes, stick to blue hues such as light blue and teal and stay away from green hues. With green eyes, you can wear most shades except any pink or purples and likewise, stay away from blue hues.
Be careful of the amount of mascara and eyeliner you wear. It can make your eyes appear sunken in. Apply eyeliner on one lid only and use a heavy mascara to top lashes.
For Light/Pale Skin and Dark Eyes
Smokey grey or black eyes, bronze or green eyeshadows work well for this combination. Stick to these or a neutral shade since light shades make this skin type appear washed out and brights just don't compliment at all and use a plumping mascara applied to both eyelids.
For Light/Pale Skin and Light Eyes
Stick to dusky and light shades with very little mascara and eyeliner. For those with Hazel eyes, you are very lucky. You can pull off a wide array of colors. Avoid using excessive blue hues but gravitate towards neutral colors like lavender, soft pink, brown and gold.
